4 Successful IWC Pilot’s Collection released at SIHH 2019

Many people were merely looking forward to seeing what one of the Richemont’s biggest brands would launch at the SIHH 2019. This year at SIHH, IWC has released its exquisite Pilot’s collection. While it added new timepieces to the Top Gun Series, the manufacturer upgraded and launched a new Spitfire series along with a special edition ‘Antoine de Saint Exupery’ and two ‘Le Petit Prince’ models.

Whether you are looking to ‘sell my watch’, ‘sell watches’ or sell your IWC watch for cash, let’s today explore and take a closer look at the IWC’s successful Pilot collection.
  • IWC ‘Top Gun Series’
The significant release of the IWC Top Gun collection is the Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Top Gun Ceratanium. This is the first Pilot’s watch of IWC that comes with a ceratanium case, developed by using lightweight titanium and scratch-resistant ceramic. The base element for the patent ceratanium is a titanium alloy that turns scratch resistant and hard after going through a multi-stage, complex manufacturing process and finally, gets the matte black colour.

Regardless, the automatic IWC Calibre 79420 powers the Pilot Watch Double Chronograph Top Gun Ceratanium IW371815, boasting a 44-hour power reserve. However, the watch also comes equipped with a split-seconds integrated mechanism to measure two short periods simultaneously.
  • IWC Top Gun Edition ‘Mojave Desert’
It is the first ever IWC watch to feature a unique sand-coloured ceramic case, matching hands, textile straps and dark brown dial. The sand colour combination of IWC ‘Mojave Desert’ edition is inspired by the Mojave Desert and is powered by in-house IWC calibre 69380. However, the movement has a timeless column wheel design, a chronograph function and a display for the date and day, boasting a 46-hour power reserve.
  • IWC Spitfire Series
IWC has launched a brand new set of Spitfire watches in 2019. Every watch features an in-house calibre and one of the two colour schemes of Spitfire. One is in a stainless steel case with green textile strap and black dial, while the second features a bronze case with olive green dial and brown-calf leather strap.

When it comes to the new additions to the Spitfire series, the first one to highlight is the calibre 52615 that powers the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Spitfire ref. IW503601. The movement features a Pellaton winding system, two barrels and ceramic components along with a perpetual calendar. However, the timepiece sports a bronze case, gold-plated hands, olive green dial and a brown calf leather strap.

The next watch is the Spitfire Edition ‘The Longest Flight’, powered by newly developed automatic calibre 82760 that boasts a 60-hour power reserve. The movement comes with the Pellaton winding system, and components made of scratch-resistant ceramic, boasting a 60-hour power reserve. However, the stainless steel watch has a black dial, green textile strap and rhodium-plated hands.
  • IWC ‘Le Petit Prince’ Watches
Finally, IWC announced the two additions at SIHH 2019 to the ‘Le Petit Prince’ series. The first is the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Constant-Force Tourbillon Edition ‘Le Petit Prince’, powered by the in-house 94805 calibre. The movement integrates a constant-force tourbillion and a perpetual moon phase display. However, both versions of this watch are limited to ten pieces. One features a platinum case, brown calf leather strap, blue dial and rhodium-plated hands; whereas the other one has a blue dial, 18ct hard gold case, gold-plated hands and brown calf leather strap.

Another addition to the IWC ‘Le Petit Prince’ series is the Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Chronograph. It is the IWC’s Pilot watch to incorporate a perpetual calendar with a chronograph. However, the watch runs on the in-house 89630 calibre and features a blue dial, 18ct red gold case and gold hands and brown calf leather strap.

Thus, IWC has indeed made an excellent addition to their successful Pilot’s Collection. However, it has been mostly about upgrading materials and movements rather than introducing new designs.
